Nakhchivan through the eyes of representatives of leading mass media

By the organization of State Support Fund to the Development of Mass Media, the representatives of leading mass media paid a visit to Nakhchivan on 31 May-2 June. In the frame of the visit they got acquainted with the historical-cultural monuments, production, cultural and educational facilities, places of interest of the ancient land. They shared their impressions with us.

Vugar Safarli - the executive director of State Support Fund to the Development of Mass Media: “We have been visiting Nakhchivan for the second time with representatives of various media organs. Our first visit was in October last year. We came with a team consisting of 20 people, mainly chief editors then. We held a conference here to expand contacts with media organizations.We visited Nakhchivan and familiarized them with the historical monuments. After the first visit the country’s press published articles about Nakhchivan and its development.

This time the aim of the our visit is to hold an event dedicated to the role of media in the development of tourism in Nakhchivan. Nakhchivan possesses a great tourism potential. This should be broadly covered in the media. We decided that media managers should write broad articles on Nakhchivan’s tourism potential after returning”.

By the organization of State Support Fund to the Development of Mass Media, the representatives of leading mass media paid a visit to Nakhchivan on 31 May-2 June. In the frame of the visit they attended the conference holding at Nakhchivan State University on the topic “The role of mass media to promote the tourism potential of Nakhchivan”, got acquainted with the historical-cultural monuments, production, cultural, educational facilities, places of interest of the ancient land. They shared their impressions with us.

Hikmat Mammadov – The chief editor of “Yeni Azerbaijan” (new Azerbaijan) newspaper, the Member of Parliament: “Grounding on my own observations I can say that although Nakhchivan is an old land it is also a modern city. The construction traditions preserved since old times are continued successfully now. My heart is full of with the senses of honor, pride that today, Nakhchivan, on the border of three countries is developing, growing and improving. The people live in prosperity here. The autonomous republic has a great tourism potential. Nakhchivan was one of the centers of history and political past of Azerbaijani people. But I think that it is a bit unfair to connect the name of Nakhchivan only with the political history of Azerbaijan people. Because, Nakhchivan city and Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic as a whole is one of the most important cultural centers of Middle East and the Muslim world. Therefore, Nakhchivan has become one of the developing tourist centers in the world today. Because all the peoples living in a large Muslim geography from North Africa to the Middle East can find something belonging to their backgrounds and cultures.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Onno Kervers: “Nakhchivan is also a modern city, the unity of modernity and historicity drew my attention here”.

The extra ordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Azerbaijan Onno Kervers got acquainted with the ancient historical monuments and cultural objects of the autonomous republic in the frame of his visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The ambassador shared his impressions: “This is my first visit to Nakhchivan. The main goal of my visit is to strengthen the ties existing between our countries and get acquainted with this historical city.

Nakhchivan is an ancient and very beautiful and clean city as well. There are a lot of historical monuments here. Nakhchivan is also a modern city.

The representatives of customs service of Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova and Azerbaijan are on business visit to Nakhchivan to attend the 26th meeting of the Steering Committee of the GUAM Trade and Assistance Project.

In the frame of the visit the guests got acquainted with the historical monuments, tourism objects of the autonomous republic, they closely monitored the working principles and operation of the border crossing points of Shahtakhti and Sadarak.

The representatives of the customs service of GUAM gave an interview about Nakhchivan.

Vakhtang Lachkaradze, Deputy Chief of Revenue Service of the Republic of Georgia expressed his gratitude for the hospitality and said:

“I did not expect to see such wide greenery and beautiful buildings. We were taken to customs crossing complexes in Nakhchivan - on the Iranian border, on Turkey’s border. New buildings are being built there, completely modern infrastructure is going to be built. This will lead to simplify the customs businessand will accelerate trade”.

Israeli Ambassador Dan Stav: “Israel is interested in developing economic relations with Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and this will turn into a practical issue”.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Israel to Azerbaijan Dan Stav got acquainted with the ancient historical monuments and cultural facilities of the autonomous republic in the frame of his visit to Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The ambassador expressed his impressions about Nakhchivan: “My visit to Nakhchivan is a part of my visits to different regions of Azerbaijan. Nakhchivan is an important part of Azerbaijan. What I saw in Nakhchivan made deep impressions on me. In particular, I should note the existence of a modern hospital in Nakhchivan and the availability of a mineral water treatment system. All these show that Nakhchivan has high tourism potential and has been developing at a high level.The purpose of this visit is to build cooperation and to develop relationships in the areas of mutual interest. I also met the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Mr. Vasif Talibov and the ministers as well. The main purpose of the meetings is to expand cooperation in the field of health and agriculture”.
