“National Music Day” was celebrated in Nakhchivan

On September 18, “National Music Day” was celebrated in Heydar Aliyev Palace in Nakhchivan city.

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov attended at the event.

It was noted that according to the Decree of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated September 18, 2017, Asgerov Amil Akbar oglu, Askerov Samad Elshan oglu, Farzaliyev Arzu Ismayil oglu and Hasanova Garibe Ibrahim gizi were awarded the “Honorary artist” of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic for their fruitful activity in the culture field of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis presented the badge and certificate of the “Honorary artist” of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to awarded people.

The awardees thanked for the appreciation, and mentioned that they would spare efforts to develop culture, as well as musical art in the autonomous republic.

The minister of culture and tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Natavan Gadimova delivered a speech at the event and stated that according to the Decree signed by the national leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev in 1995, every year    birthday of the founder of  first musical theater in the East, classic of Azerbaijan music, outstanding  musician, publicist, playwright, educator and public figure Uzeyir Hajibeyov - September 18 is celebrated as “National Music Day” in our country. The innovative artist Uzeyir Hajibeyov laid the foundations of all genres of classical Azerbaijani music. Today, in our country and in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a comprehensive state attention is being paid to the development of national music. The autonomous republic’s culture is experiencing its new era of development. In the background of this rise, national music art has also developed. In recent years, new music schools have been constructed and put into operation in Nakhchivan city, region centers and villages. The material and technical basis of the Nakhchivan State Philharmony, Nakhchivan State Children’s Philharmony, Nakhchivan Musical College has been strengthened, the activities of  Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Composers’ Organization and the Ashugs Union have been ensured. Important measures are being taken in the direction of propaganda of national music in the autonomous republic, tours of creative collectives to foreign countries are organized. Measures towards the development of our music have also included children’s music, art and artistic   craftsmanship schools. In recent years, the buildings have been built or reconstructed for more than 20 music schools. At present there are 27 children’s music, arts and artistic craftsmanship schools in the autonomous republic.

It was noted that Nakhchivan State Children’s Philharmony, created by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated on April 19, 2010, plays an important role in revealing the talents of children. Opening of the Conservatory under the Faculty of Fine Arts of Nakhchivan State University in 1998 is of great importance in terms of educating highly qualified musicians. After the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of   Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated February 7, 2009, “On holding Folk Days  in Nakhchivan   Autonomous Republic”, they began to study and research  Azerbaijan folk music preserving the history of Azerbaijan people, yallis,   folk dances, wedding traditions. Natavan Gadimova thanked the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis on behalf of all cultural workers for the care and attention shown to the development of music and culture in the autonomous republic.  

Then the concert by the Chamber Orchestra of Nakhchivan State Philharmony and a dance group took place.

Art director and conductor of the orchestra is People’s Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan Chingiz Akhundov, ballet-master is Honored Culture Worker of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tamerlan Bagirov. At the concert,  works of outstanding Azerbaijani composers Uzeyir Hajibeyov, Gara Garayev, Tofig Guliyev, Fikret Amirov, Niyazi, Vasif Adygozalov, Ramiz Myrlisli, world’s best-known musicians Volfang Amadey Mozart, Johan Brams, Antonio Vivaldi, Iohan Strauss, Carlos Gardel were played, as well as folk songs, and Azerbaijani folk song “Sari galin” was performed on our national music instrument balaban. Performances by Honored Artists of the Republic of Azerbaijan Tural Najafov, Gulyanag Farzaliyeva, Mubariz Asgarov, Vilayat Ismayilov and Honored Artist of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Zulfugar Mahmudov were applauded and the dance group performed national and world dances skillfully.

After the concert, the Chairman of the Supreme Majlis met with the performers and congratulated them for the “National Music Day" and their successful performances: “Today’s successful concert program once again showed that the Chamber Orchestra of Nakhchivan State Philharmony is capable of performing on all stages. In recent years Nakhchivan has achieved great success in musical life, orchestras have emerged, and valuable musicians have grown up. All this was possible as a result of the created conditions. Cadre training in all levels of music education has been provided in the autonomous republic. Musical schools, circles operating in the villages, Nakhchivan State Musical College, Conservatory of Nakhchivan State University serve to educate skilled musicians, to develop musical culture and to enjoy national music in the autonomous republic. Music has no boundaries and nationality. Today, no matter in which country Uzeyir Hajibeyov’s works are performed, his works will be loved as much as in our country. At the same time, Beethoven’s, Mozart’s works are converging scenes from all over the world. Today’s concert also featured folk art samples, as well as works by prominent Azerbaijani and world composers.

The Chairman of the Supreme Majlis said: National music develops in a place that it has roots. And then the people are proud of national music that is based on ancient folk art samples and folk music. Because, the existence of every nation lives in folk and folk music. The ancient yalli patterns engraved on Gamigaya’s monuments state the millennial development history of our national music. The Chairman of the Supreme Majlissaid he was proud of the development of talented musicians and the organization of successful concerts in the autonomous republic, thanked the art director and the whole staff of the orchestra and wished them new creative successes.
