Tabriz and Saat Meydani hotels were presented with certificates according to the National star classification.

On October 25, 2022, with the participation of representatives of the tourism industry and tourism volunteers operating in the autonomous republic, a presentation event of certificates corresponding to the National star classification was held at the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic to Tabriz and Saat Meydani hotels. Akbar Novruzov, the director of the department, who opened the event with his opening speech, firstly talked about the attention and care given by the state to the tourism sector in the autonomous republic, and at the same time the tourism potential of the autonomous republic, and then noted that today, in order to meet the demand for accommodation facilities in the autonomous republic, 21 hotels and hotel-type institution have been opened and the  operated. As a result of the successful implementation of state programs and infrastructure projects in our ancient country, which has a great tourism potential, sustainable development has been achieved in this area, and the measures taken on the development of tourism have become sustainable. 

It was noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic has established and applied the criteria for the classification of hotels and hotel-type facilities, the definition and evaluation of star categories, in order to make the hotels operating in the autonomous republic more healthy to compete, to provide assistance to the consumer in the selection of appropriate hotels and hotel-type facilities, and to define and evaluate star categories. In accordance with the "Ways of certification of tourist-excursion services" approved by Resolution No. 131 dated September 16, 2005, an "Expert group" was established, and Saat Meydani hotel and Tabriz hotel were classified according to the State Standard of the Republic of Azerbaijan AZS 745-2015 and  a review was conducted for granting the National star category. As a result, the services offered by the hotels were evaluated with appropriate star ratings based on the compliance with the criteria of the mentioned standard and certificates were prepared.

The director noted that the results of the evaluation by the expert group for issuing the certificate were drawn up and signed by the group members in the form of an act, and submitted to the attestation commission for the adoption of a decision on certification. It was determined by the attestation commission that the evaluation of star categories in hotels was carried out based on the rules, methods and mechanisms established by the legislation. The Commission has taken all necessary measures to prevent bias, conflicts of interest and ensure the objectivity of certification during the assessment of compliance in certification activities. Control of compliance with the requirements of the validity of the certificate is carried out by the Department through the inspector's control of the fulfillment of the requirements of the certification at the facility during the period of validity of the certificate. If inconsistency between the certified parameters and the requirements of the normative documents is found during the control of the certified objects, a decision is made to temporarily suspend the validity of the certificate, terminate the validity of the certificate and re-conduct the certification procedures until the detected deficiencies are eliminated. The certificate is valid for three years.

Then Suleyman Rustamov, head of the statistics and certification sector of the Tourism Department of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, head of the expert group, made a speech and stated that the certification of tourist-excursion services is carried out according to the requirements of the approved standards in accordance with the legislation. The evaluation of the existing accommodation facilities in the autonomous republic for the purpose of determining the star category AZS 745-2015 "Classification of hotels and hotel-type objects, determination of star categories and application of criteria in the evaluation" state standard provided for in part 5 of the main criteria of the star categories of hotels and hotel-type objects and it is done on the basis of scoring according to the evaluation criteria provided in Appendix 1 of this standard. The reporter noted that according to paragraph 1.1.21 of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Tourism, a hotel with a reception-registration department, accommodation in rooms with sanitary facilities, at least 1 meal a day and other additional services, with a capacity of at least eleven means of accommodation, which are provided in Tabriz and Saat Meydani hotels.

So, all rooms have a bed, a set of soft furniture, a TV, a minibar, an electric kettle, an electronic safe, printed products, a telephone, a wardrobe, a clothes hanger, a sewing kit, writing tools and a notebook, toothpaste, a shaving kit, a comb, soap, bone, shampoo, shower gel, make-up cotton, manicure set, robe, towel, hairdryer and cleaning boxes are placed. At the same time, there are Internet, fire alarm, central heating and cooling systems. In general, all rooms are equipped with furniture and equipment that meet the requirements of the standard, 4 and 5 star categories, hard and soft inventory, and things that will satisfy all the needs of the guest. The equipment is eye-catching both in terms of functionality and interior. It was emphasized that during the review, additional points were collected with minimal points on the evaluation criteria "Classification of hotels and hotel-type objects, determination of star categories and application of criteria in evaluation." According to the requirements of AZS 745-2015 State Standard of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Tabriz hotel was awarded 5 star category, Saat Meydani hotel was awarded 4 star category.
Then the speaker informed the participants about the new Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan on Tourism adopted on December 27, 2021 and the changes in the Code of Administrative Offenses.

Then, the member of the expert group, the head of the State Fire Control Department of the State Fire Safety Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the major of the internal service, Etibar Mammadov, noted that the relevant institutions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic regularly conduct fire safety inspections in hotels and motels. During the inspection, the existing fire extinguishing means inside the building, the building's electricity and gas supply, automatic fire extinguishing and fire alarm systems, boiler rooms, ventilation systems and the main emergency exits for the evacuation of people in the event of a fire are inspected, and facility managers are educated in this direction.
Then the hotel representatives were presented with certificates of conformity according to the star categories.
At the end of the event, a video showing the tourism potential of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was shown for the participants.
